Time to be my Valentine

I was at the Dollar Tree the other day and saw a bag of candy watches for sale.  They were so cute I just had to get them and I figured I could think of a cute quote to go with them for my daughters Valentines day cards.  So I got home and started searching Pinterest for any ideas. I found one that I liked and made one similar.  I love how they turned out and can't wait for Valentines day!

If you like it as well, here is a free printable for you. I printed it out, but you can use your Silhouette sketch pens just as easy! It is a Silhouette file, so it will only work if you have a Silhouette machine- sorry!

Laundry Room Quotes

When I was looking for a cute quote to put up in my laundry room, I found a bunch of them but it took some searching on Pinterest to find some and they all were the same ones. So, to help out in your search for some different quotes, here are four different ones that you could use!

They were all created using a Silhouette machine (but a Cricut would work just as well) and cut out with different  colors of vinyl.  Hope you like them.  Thank you to our cousin Janelle for creating them and sharing your projects with us!

DIY: Easy Baby Milestone Onesie Stickers

So baby milestone onesies seem to be all the rage these days. Either that, or I just have a lot of friends and family members having babies who like to make these onesies.  Good thing for us, they are super easy to make, and you can do them in a no-mess fashion.

Okay, isn't my niece a cutie?
Rather than making a new onesie each month, or a new shirt for every milestone--just use some vinyl or sticker paper and design your own sticker!

Someone We Love is in Heaven

Do you know someone who has lost a loved one and you want to give them a special gift but don't want to send flowers?  Here is a lovely quote that someone gave to us when we lost our son.  I love reading it and knowing that we have a little angel looking over us.

Recently, some friends lost a baby and knowing how much I loved this quote, I made them a frame with the quote in it.  I was able to find the quote in the Silhouette store for only $0.99 and that dollar was worth my time of trying to create it myself.  Since I was mailing this gift, I didn't want to put it on a tile because I was worried that it would break.  So, I sized it to a 5x7 and printed it off on some print scrapbook paper and in about five minutes I was done.

"Because someone we love is in Heaven, there is a little bit of Heaven in our home."

Simple Silhouette Card

Quick inspiration day:

In a hurry but need to make a card for some occasion?  I found that using my Silhouette machine (or Cricut) to make a...well Silhouette card (aka...card with a Silhouette of something on it), works great, cuts back on decisions, and is simple, yet classy.

Just use some scraps of plain black cardstock, pick your image, and cut.

Adjust your Sails: New Year's Quote Friday

Story time:  I have a friend who loves to sail, who once shared a profound insight about this passion of his.  He said, in essence, when you get into a boat you pick a point on the horizon and then you move towards it, adjusting the sails and using the currents and your knowledge of the ship and sailing to get you there.  You don't step into the boat without any goal, and then just sit there in the harbor and see where the wind and waves will take you.  They may take you no where.  They may thrash you against the shore or rocks, or they may move you far out to sea and get you lost or too far from resources.  If you don't adjust your sails, steer your rudder, and step out with purpose, you are missing the entire point of the sailing.  Also, these things that without purpose and a goal can be destructive, can actually be the forces that help get you to your destination if you let them be, and if you harness them as you are meant to, to get you where you want to go.

With it being a bright new year, I thought I'd share a quote that encompasses a small portion of this sentiment, that serves as a good reminder for a goal I hope to have this coming year, whatever comes (and let's hope all good things).  This is also a great quote for an office wall, or framed somewhere in your home as a reminder to keep attitudes adjusted to whatever comes.

We can't direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.  We can't control everything that will go on around us or in the world, but we can choose our attitude, and how we allow that "wind" to move us--either to a directed goal, or further from it, or to no-where in particular at all.  I can harness the winds and waves, or let them move me at their will.  I don't know about you, but I'd rather act that be acted upon.  I'd rather be in control of what I can.  And my attitude it something that I can control.  And my desire to learn from experiences.  Here's to great ones this year!
